Rasheeda Crews, hailing from Brookneal, VA, where she was raised by Mike and Robin "Big Boss" Crews, ignited her softball career at just four years old. Her journey from recreational play to collegiate competition at Eastern Mennonite University reflects her enduring passion for the sport. Now based in Richmond, VA, Rasheeda balances her life as a devoted wife to Ashley Crews with her roles as a Health and Physical Education Teacher, a bonus parent, and a dedicated softball trainer at Tuckahoe Sports, Inc.
Rasheeda’s coaching journey began at 20 in Rockingham County, where she coached travel fast-pitch softball while excelling as a player at Eastern Mennonite University. After relocating to Richmond, her coaching acumen quickly propelled her from assistant coach at Henrico High School to Head Coach. Her remarkable leadership earned her accolades such as Region 5B Coach of the Year, Female Coach of the Year, and Team of the Year for the 2017-2018 season. During her tenure, she also successfully mentored two athletes who advanced to play at D2 and D3 universities in Virginia.
Despite a challenging period following her mother's passing on the softball field, Rasheeda found renewed focus and purpose as the assistant softball coach at Virginia State University in January 2021. Her contributions were pivotal in propelling the team to a top-ten national ranking in overall batting average and a second-place pitching ERA in the CIAA conference.
In Fall 2022, Rasheeda embraced a new challenge as the Head Softball Coach at Atlee High School. Her leadership led the team to an impressive 15-7 record, a second-place finish in the Capital District, and a strong showing in the second round of the regional playoffs. Alongside her coaching, Rasheeda offers private softball training for players aged 10 to 23, focusing on hitting, fielding, pitching, and catching. She instills in her trainees the importance of playing with P.R.I.D.E., recognizing that softball, like life, is a game of perseverance and profound transformation.
In spring 2024, Coach Crews stepped down from her coaching role to dedicate herself fully to her business and provide private lessons, continuing her commitment to developing the next generation of softball players.
